MAKING A STUDIO
SOUND ISOLATION
INTERNAL ACOUSTIC TREATMENT
Recording studio acoustics are designed to achieve two primary goals: keeping unwanted sound out (and inside) the room, and controlling how sound behaves within the space to ensure precise tracking and monitoring.
To accomplish this, studio design is divided into two distinct engineering phases: isolation and internal treatment.
Isolation decouples the room from the outside world to achieve a low noise floor—typically aiming for NC-15 to NC-20 (Noise Criterion) in professional rooms. This prevents traffic, air conditioning, and structural vibrations from ruining Discussion.
Once the room is isolated, the interior surfaces must be treated so that the speakers or instruments sound accurate, balanced, and free from destructive reflections using our custom made panels.
